Windy Beach Resort

Our restaurant in this beautiful seaside setting, is an open-sided Balinese pavilion and can seat up to 50 people. It serves a wide variety of good food, including Indonesian, Chinese and European dishes.

Alternatively just relax over a long cool drink in one of our four beach-front and garden berugak (grass-roof dining pavilions), or at the bar, which is located in the corner of the restaurant and has a wide selection of cocktails and other tempting drinks to whet your appetite.

Just let yourself unwind – “Unwind at Windy” - listen to the soothing music of the waves caressing the beach and watch the beautiful sunsets, with the sun sinking in the west behind Bali and Gunung Agung, the great volcano of Bali, providing a majestic and perfect backdrop. There is no piped music. The only music is the sound of the waves on the beach.

The restaurant is open all day, from 0730 to 2200, for meals and drinks, as also is the bar.

Extract from the Lombok Times, November 2006 (with updated prices):

“Everyone on holiday has time to pay more attention to food, and many tourists seek a romantic dining experience.

The open-air Balinese pavilion (Balé Windy) which is Windy Beach’s atmospheric restaurant offers ocean views, natural breezes and a fine selection of simple, fresh food. Everything is cooked to order.

The menu carries 10 soups (Rp16,000 to Rp25,000) and 12 omelettes starting at Rp11,000 and reaching Rp28,000 for the Special of cheese, chicken, mushroom and tomato.

Tofu (Soya bean curd) and Tempe (Soya bean cake) are Rp10,000 and could be nicely teamed with Lombok Spinach at Rp15,000.

Gado Gado (Rp25,000) or Lumpia (Rp20,000) might tempt the tastebuds before a meal of Fried or Grilled Fish (Rp 35,000 each) or perhaps Chicken Curry (Rp33,000) or Squid in Sweet and Sour Sauce (Rp40,000).

Couples who plan ahead can place an advance order for Grilled Chicken Taliwang in hot Lombok Sauce, at Rp150,000 for two, or Whole Snapper or Barracuda, at Rp170,000 for two, both with rice and vegetables.

The latter choices, though, are for the big spenders as most dishes are priced much lower.

Curried Tempe, Tofu and beans in Coconut Sauce (Rp19,000) and Stir Fried Mushrooms with Vegetables (Rp33,000) won’t hurt your wallet.

There is a choice of 9 sandwiches and jaffles ranging from Rp20,000 to Rp40,000 for the Special Sandwich of chicken, tomato, cheese and egg. You will pay only Rp10,000 for the Pancake and Rp20,000 for Fresh Fruit Salad.

Most juices are Rp10,000 and milkshakes and iced teas are around Rp15,000 each. Coffees and teas range from Rp6,000 to Rp12,000 and include a very soothing Ginger Tea with Lemon.

A large Bintang beer is well-priced at Rp25,000 and there is a small but thoughtful choice of imported wines at around Rp150,000 to Rp300,000 a bottle.

Local red or white rice wine is priced at Rp30,000 a bottle and should be tried, but cautiously by the uninitiated. (Note: This is wine made by traditional methods, without any additives, and is perfectly safe to drink).

The Balé Windy Restaurant is popular with guests of Mangsit and Senggigi hotels and local residents as well as house guests, especially those seeking traditional Indonesian food at reasonable prices. If you haven’t tried it, we recommend sunset drinks and a leisurely dinner when you have time to sit back and soak up the ambience.”

Prices are inclusive of 21% tax and service.
